A one-bedroom apartment in Bartlesville can work well when you want a separate bedroom without the space and upkeep of a larger house. The most useful comparison goes beyond the advertised rent: look at the layout, utility responsibilities, parking and lease length together.

This guide uses one of our own apartments as a concrete example and explains what to check before applying. For current options, start with our houses and apartments for rent in Bartlesville.

A local example: 509 S Shawnee Ave, Unit B

As of October 9, 2026, 509 Shawnee B is listed at $995 per month on a 12-month lease. It has one bedroom, one bathroom and approximately 700 square feet. The remodeled interior includes refinished hardwood floors, a walk-in closet, an updated kitchen and a tiled tub/shower surround.

  • Kitchen: gas range, dishwasher and microwave.
  • Heating and cooling: mini-split system.
  • Parking: off-street parking is listed.
  • Included services: water, trash and lawn care.
  • Tenant responsibilities: electricity and gas.

These details apply to this apartment, not every rental we offer. Check its listing for current availability and confirm your move-in date before applying.

Work out the full monthly budget

For this example, the recurring housing budget starts with $995 rent, then adds electricity, gas, your chosen internet service and any other applicable recurring costs. Ask about renters insurance requirements and pet terms if relevant. Water, trash and lawn care are already included in this listing.

Keep one-time move-in expenses separate. Ask for the security deposit, application or screening charges, utility setup costs and the amount due before receiving keys. A $995 rent figure alone does not tell you the total needed to move in.

If you need a utility estimate, ask whether recent bills or a provider estimate are available. A previous occupant's bill can be a reference point, but your usage and the season will affect what you pay.

Check how your furniture will fit

Square footage is only part of the picture. Before choosing an apartment, think about the furniture and storage you actually need. A separate bedroom is useful, but doors, windows and closet placement affect how much usable wall space you have.

  • Measure your bed, sofa and any desk you plan to bring.
  • Check the route through the entrance and interior doorways.
  • Look at closet space and where cleaning supplies or larger items will go.
  • Confirm which appliances remain and ask about laundry arrangements.
  • Check the parking arrangement for the number of vehicles you will have.

At a showing, use the current photos as a checklist and ask about anything they do not show. Confirm the actual apartment and unit letter so you are comparing the right home.

Match the lease to your plans

A 12-month apartment lease can suit an ongoing move to Bartlesville. If you need housing for only a work assignment or while waiting to move into another home, compare our monthly furnished rentals before committing to a longer lease.

The two options have different pricing and inclusions. A furnished booking rate should not be compared with an unfurnished monthly rent without accounting for the length of stay, utilities and furniture you would otherwise need.

Ask these questions before applying

  1. Is this specific unit available for my intended move-in date?
  2. What is the complete amount due before move-in?
  3. Which utilities must I arrange, and when should service begin?
  4. What are the current application requirements and screening charges?
  5. Can I review the lease terms, including renewal and notice requirements?
  6. How do I report maintenance issues after moving in?

Send your questions through the 509 Shawnee B listing or contact Ascension Rentals. Once availability and terms are confirmed, use the application link provided for that unit. An inquiry or submitted application does not by itself reserve the apartment.

What if the apartment is already leased?

Check the current rental list for homes marked Available Now or Coming Soon. For a leased property, ask about the waitlist and share your preferred move-in date, bedroom count and budget. A waitlist expresses interest; it does not guarantee an opening or a particular move-in date.
